GeoGebra Institute:University of Botswana, Botswana Network

Aims

1. Training and Support
The aim of the Institute is to have a network of certified GeoGebra users, Experts and Trainers. We intend to train classroom teachers, Colleges of Education lecturers and Ministry of Education officers whose mandate is to support practicing teachers. Upon a base of certified GeoGebra of experts and trainers the roll out of workshops on GeoGebra will be spread out to schools nationwide. This will be done with the Ministry of Education and Skills Development who will advise on financial implications for carrying out country-wide workshops.

2. Development and Sharing
The Institute will develop and share materials with schools, colleges of education and other relevant institutions through different platforms available in Botswana including the use of regional education officers.

3. Research and Collaboration
The Institute will take advantage of the existence of UB-INSET housed at the Department of Mathematics and Science Education whose mandate is to provide and support professional development of mathematics and science senior secondary school teachers. Members of Institute and DMSE staff will collaborate with classroom teachers on Action Research and related classroom activities relating to GeoGebra. Graduate students will be encouraged to undertake research projects or dissertation on the use of GeoGebra in schools.

Workshop on the Usage of Mathematical-Software - GeoGebra

Mogoditsane Senior Secondary School Mathematics Department is organizing a workshop to train its Staff on the usage of Mathematical-Software - GeoGebra. Dr. Kesianye, Professor Garegae, Dr. Nkhwalume, and Mr. Liu from GeoGebra Institute of University of Botswana will facilitate the workshop. This will take place on the 10th February 2014 at 1400 hours.
