Boris Girnat is a lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences PH FHNW. During his former position as a lecturer at the University of Münster, he ran several courses on introducing new media, including GeoGebra, as teaching tools at secondary schools and as additional offers to traditional lectures on mathematics at university level. He is currentlyworking on his PhD which is focused on the geometrical part of secondary teacher's curricular beliefs, i.e. on the individual considerations teachers use to plan, hold, and evaluate their lessons on teaching elementary and analytic geometry. The use of interactive geometry software is also part of this study.

Aims

1. Training and Support
2. Development and Sharing
3. Research and Collaboration

We will build up a Swiss network of GeoGebra Experts and Trainers using existing structures of the Kompetenzzentrum für Mathematikdidaktik. We will extend training throughout the country through courses in further education and courses attached to teaching education conferences.

People

Prof. Dr. Helmut Linneweber-Lammerskitten is Head of mathematics education at the Institute for Secondary I and II at the PH FHNW and Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Bern. His work focuses on logic and philosophy of science, philosophy of mathematics, mathematics and language, visualizations in mathematics education, development of educational standards for mathematics. He will be the chair person of the GeoGebra Institute. Helmut Linneweber-Lammerskitten (chair person)

Dr. Torsten Linnemann holds a PhD in mathematics from the ETH Zurich. He is a teacher at Gymnasium Oberwil and lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences PH FHNW. His research interests are the influences of language in the learning of mathematics and the development and evaluation of teaching materials enhancing an experimental approach in learning mathematics. He will develop applets in GeoGebra and do research on the using of GeoGebra in mathematics class rooms. Torsten Linnemann

Dr. Martin Guggisberg holds a M.Sc. in Physics and is a lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences PH FHNW. The launch of the nanoscale science e-learning platform “nano-world” of the Swiss Virtual Campus and the later integration into “LiLa” a European eContentPlus project was the result of his scientific work. The actual research of Guggisberg is aimed at developing new concepts in the field of data visualization and e-Science. He focuses on development of interactive mathematical objects and remote/virtual experiments, on modelling of time-dependent systems, on mechanisms modification and visualization of data in cooperative virtual knowledge spaces. He will develop materials and do research on GeoGebra. Martin Guggisberg
