Dear GeoGebra friends,

Let us wish You a belated Happy New Year for 2013! In this newsletter, we would like to provide you a brief summary of GeoGebra activities in 2012.


Community news

  • Don't miss the chance to win Cambridge University certificates and cool GeoGebra gifts!Our GeoGebra/Orbit Primary competition is still open for submissions, please participate!
  • With your support we have raised $12, 010 for the GeoGebra for tablets project which has thus become a successfully funded project on Kickstarter. Thank you very much for your help!
  • We named 9 new GeoGebra Ambassadors in 2012 from our community. Please read a short interview with them on the Official GeoGebra blog

What you can do:

  • Talk about, teach, spread GeoGebra! Network, go to conferences, help establish new GeoGebra Institutes! We will recognize the efforts of the members of our community who have been the most active, by naming them GeoGebra Ambassadors. You can also nominate someone you know and think should deserve it to become a GG Ambassador. Send your suggestions to community@geogebra.org!
  • Post, discuss, share online your experiences with GeoGebra! Start a blog, a facebook, twitter, google+ page or just simply share with us any interesting pages you find about GeoGebra on the worldwide web. Click here to submit a page
  • If you tweet about a conference please use the #ggbconf hashtag.

Our Community in Numbers in 2012

  • At the end of 2012 we had 130 GeoGebra Institutes all around the World.
  • 47 new GeoGebra Institutes were established in 2012

  • The number of people who joined our GeoGebra Facebook group grew from 8888 to more than 13,900.
  • There were more than 4300 people who followed GeoGebra on Twitter!
  • We had more than 5,4 million visitors to www.geogebra.org out of which 67,7% are new visitors.

Translation Issues

The GeoGebra software is currently available in about 56 languages and the work has been started in at least 10 more. However there are a few translations still missing or need updating like Arabic, Thai, Malayalam, Hindi, Ukrainian etc.

What you can do: Do your students understand everything? If GeoGebra is not available in your local language, please work with us to find volunteer translators and make GeoGebra accessible for everyone. E-mail Translation
