The IGP organized the “1st GeoGebra Day – Portugal”, that took place on May 21, 2011 at Oporto’s College of Education with 120 teachers attending it.

It is expected that the "2nd GeoGebra Day Portugal" will take place on May 26, 2012, probably in Coimbra.

Teacher Training Activities

Several teacher training activities were developed: two short-term during ProfMat2011, in collaboration with the Centro de Formação da Associação de Professores de Matemática(1.) ; two in-service training workshops at the Centro de Formação da Escola Superior de Educação do Instituto Politécnico do Porto(2.) ; and one in collaboration with the SPLIU. The Profmat2011 activities were two 15-hour courses: a) Course 3 - “GeoGebra for Algebra and Geometry in grades 7-12: classroom activities and teacher software knowledge”: 37 trainees, tutors Ana Azevedo and Paulo Correia; b) Course 4 – “GeoGebra for mathematical content and skills development in grades 1-6: classroom activities and teacher software knowledge”: 15 trainees, tutor José Manuel Santos dos Santos.

The long-term in-service training activities developed at theTraining Center of Oporto’s College of Education provided levels 1 and 2 certification: a) Action 1 - “Using GeoGebra to learn and teach mathematics”: workshop, 26 trainees, tutored by the IGP team; b) Action 2 – “GeoGebra and learning communities as a support for Mathematics”: workshop, enabled the certification of several more level II GeoGebra Institute Trainers.
