There will be four keynote presentations highlighting important issues in both software and community developments (20min+10min questions). We welcome submissions for short presentations about interesting applications of GeoGebra, research and local community activities, these presentations can be 10min + 2min due to the shortage of time. Posters can be also presented.

Keynotes
- Hee-Chan Lew, Korea National University of Education (GeoGebra = Geometry + Algebra)
- Gabriel Stylianides, University of Oxford (Reasoning and Proof with GeoGebra)
In this presentation I will discuss GeoGebra’s potential role in supporting engagement with reasoning-and-proving, a hyphenated term that describes a family of activities related to investigations of whether and why “things work” in mathematics – notably generalizing (identifying patterns, making conjectures) and justifying (developing arguments and proofs). I will also discuss recent developments in GeoGebra that can further support justification of mathematical generalizations. The findings of prior research on the teaching and learning of reasoning-and-proving will serve as a backdrop for my discussion.
- Zsolt Lavicza, University of Cambridge (GeoGebra Community and STEM Education)
GeoGebra, a free, open-source, dynamic mathematics software, is rapidly gaining popularity in the teaching and learning of mathematics around the world. Currently, GeoGebra is translated to 58 languages, used in 190 countries, and downloaded by approximately 400,000 users in each month, and clearly making an impact on mathematics education in most countries. This increased use compelled the establishment of the International GeoGebra Institute (IGI) that serves as a virtual organization to support local GeoGebra initiatives and institutes. There are already 99 institutes in 75 countries, which pursue training and support of teachers, develop teaching materials, and carry out research projects. In this talk, I will outline the directions of GeoGebra software development, its extension to STEM subjects, activities of its community, and the work of GeoGebra Institutes.
- Balazs Koren, International GeoGebra Institute (GeoGebra 4, 4.2, 5, and Beyond)
GeoGebra 4.0 was released in September 2011. With this version many new functionalities were introduced. Statistics view, one click upload to GeoGebra, just to mention some of the features. GeoGebra is not even 1 year old, but already contains more than 10 000 materials. 4.2 is the new beta, which is going to be released as stable in autumn 2012. The most awaited new feature in 4.2 is the CAS. The development of 5.0 has already started, in this new version of GeoGebra the real 3D view is introduced. Do you own a tablet or smartphone? Do you want to use GeoGebra on your new gadget? The development for these devices already started.
- Cao Yiming, Beijing Normal University (GeoGebra in China)
This report introduces current development in three aspects including network construction, theoretical work and teaching practice. GeoGebra Institute of Beijing Normal University offers software download and curriculum resources through GGB in China Weibo, the similar service as Twitter, and GeoGebra Blog for the convenience of users in China. GeoGebra Institute of Beijing Normal University also translates and edits Users’ Guide of GeoGebra to expand influence in Chinese Middle School teachers. Series of papers introducing GeoGebra were published in The largest circulation magazine of Chinese basic mathematic education. GeoGebra Institute of Beijing Normal University and of Tianjin offers lectures for normal college students and working teachers, covering secondary school teachers in Beijing, rural areas and Xinjiang(Uygur Autonomous Region).
