CAS Syntax

Variance[ <List of Numbers> ]
Calculates the variance of list elements. If the list contains undefined variables, it yields a formula for the variance.
Examples:
  • Variance[{1, 2, a}] yields \frac{2 a^{2} - 6 a + 6}{9}.
  • Variance[{1, 2, a} {20, 3, 1}] yields \frac{2 \; a² - 52 \; a + 632}{9}
