Development and Sharing

The focus of the work of the Austrian GeoGebra Institute (AGI) in 2010 was on the participation in the projects GeoGebraCAS and Medienvielfalt und Genderaspekte im Mathematikunterricht (media diversity and gender aspects in math education). The main aim of the project GeoGebraCAS is to find examples where the useful interaction of the different modules of GeoGebra can be shown and to help developing the surface of the modul CAS. These examples including didactic comments are open to a group of interested teachers to try them in classrooms and give feedback for further enhancements. The project media diversity and gender aspects in math education is the continuation of a longer existing project where online material was mainly created with GeoGebra and tested by more than 1000 students.

The Austrian GeoGebra Institute was also contacted by many teachers via e-mail or user forum discussing all kinds of problems concerning the use of GeoGebra in classroom.

Research and Collaboration

In September 2011 a new group for Didactics in Mathematics called MathemaTech was founded by Markus Hohenwarter at the University of Linz, Austria. MathemaTech is a cooperation between the University of Linz, the Paedagiogical Academy of Upper Austria and the local school administration. There is a strong collaboration between these two institutes in organizing events for participants of all parts of Austria (March 21 – 23, 2011 in Amstetten and March , 28 – 30, 2011 in Innsbruck) as well as for preparing one single track of the International GeoGebra Conference in Hagenberg,Austria in August, 29-31, 2011.
