Comments:GeoGebra Conference 2012

The International GeoGebra Institute Conference 2012 will be held on 21-23 September, 2012 in Warsaw, Poland. The main purpose of the conference is to provide a meeting platform for IGI members, and GeoGebra users, including teachers of all levels, educators, researchers, and developers from all over the World. The conference will allow ample time for speakers and audience interaction, and will encourage discussion of experiences, sharing of good practices, effective mathematics pedagogies that include GeoGebra, and enhancement of professional skills, and knowledge.

Deadlines

Extended to 15 July- Abstract submission (max. 250 words) for presentations, workshop, poster abstracts and choosing working groups (see structure below). Notification of acceptance throughout July
Extended to 15 July -Early registration deadline (180 EUR, students 130 EUR)
31 July -Final registration deadline (200 EUR, students 150 EUR)
30 September - submission of full papers (journals and format will be announced)

Structure

The conference will consist of plenary talks and scientific sessions, as well as workshops in English. In addition, there will be a parallel workshop track for local teachers in Polish.

Presentations

(15 + 5 minutes) These will be usual conference presentations. Participants can submit abstracts, and if accepted, presentations will last 15 minutes with an additional 5 minutes for answering questions from the audience.

Roundtable discussions

These sessions allow maximum interaction in informal, small-group discussions on a single topic. The format is appropriate for papers, projects, or work-in-progress that encourages discussion.

Workshops

Workshops are intended to enhance the skills and broaden the perspective of their attendees. They should be designed to introduce a rigorous framework for learning a new area or to provide advanced technical training in an area. Submissions will be selected on the basis of the instructors' qualifications for teaching the proposed Workshop and their contribution to the overall conference program. Workshops can last either 45 or 90 minutes.

Posters, projected displays, video presentations:

Poster/Demonstration sessions enable presenters to demonstrate and discuss their latest study results and developments in progress, in order to gain feedback and to establish contact with similar projects. Posters will be in displayed throughout the conference.
